What is the piece’s impact?  It’s an educational piece, which uses an internet web browser plug-in that that inserts emissions data into travel related e-commerce websites; this allows people to rethink the “real costs” of travel.  Think of it like the nutritional information labeling on the back of food… except for emissions.” (source)

How does this project relate to this change as art? allows people to understand the impact of certain travel decisions as act accordingly.

What makes this an artistic project? The creator describes himself as “interdisciplinary artist, designer and scholar” working at the intersection of these areas. It’s a project that looks to provide a meaningful visualization of information. The project was made possible in part by Eyebeam Artist Residency and Rhizome Commissions Program.
