What is the piece’s impact? Every year more than 60 artists take a residencies on Fogo Island and Change Islands, which, in turn, attracts approximately 5,000 individuals who look to attend the public programs on the islands.

How does this project relate to this change as art? All Fogo Island Art projects projects are built on social entrepreneurship and uses entrepreneurial methods to create positive change in the community with a focus on partnering with the people of Fogo Island. All proceeds are invested in the revitalization of the local economy to help make it vibrant, stable and self-sufficient. All artist studios are off the grid and all aspects of the project are rooted in environmental, cultural and social sustainability.
